Naughts And Crosses

Naughts and crosses is a novel written by a British auther malorie Blackman. It is also a play. This story has no real time or date or era or place but is a alternative history were black people are the superior race to white. We get a sense of time because we know in the story slavery has been abolished but segregation still exists between the crosses (the blacks and the superior) and the Naughts (the whites and inferior). The two characters who the story is based around are Callum and sephy whos family's have a history of peace and friendship but the segregated outside world turns them against each over, kind of like a Romeo and Juliet story only with more modern issues.

Characters and relationships

Sephy
Sephy Hadley is a cross and the daughter of a wealthy and powerful politicion , kamal Hadley. She is very naive to the situation going on in the outside world. As the world sees the relationship between her and callum as wrong (because she's a cross and he's a naught) she doesn't see this and believes that because they love each other nothing else matters. Her relationship between her own family and people is most times bad, her peers in the school heathcroth gain hatred because of her relationship with callum. Sephy starts to see the world for what it really is when her family become targeted and in the centre of the liberation militia which are a terrorist organisation that callums brother and dad are in.

Callum
Callum seems to be a good kid lost In a troubled and oppressed society full of pain and misery.
